This invaluable and reusable shop tool is a must have when installing hub piloted wheels.
How it works
If you have a truck with a unexplained "Ghost" wheel vibration or wheel hop, and you have tried rotating the wheels, balancing and even dismounting and remounting the tires, but still have the problem, you need Specialty Products Company's Wheel Centering Tools or our Wheel & Brake Drum Centering Sleeves to fix the problem. These simple to use products insure your wheel is centered to the studs and you will avoid wheel hop which leads to excessive tire wear, poor ride quality, premature suspension part failures and reduced fuel mileage. As always, you should also check bearings and kingpins along with your wheel alignment if you notice a wheel vibration.Hub piloted wheels attempt to center the wheel to the hub. Unfortunately, manufacturer tolerances for both the hub and the wheel can lead to an effective ‘out of round’ condition when the wheel "sits down" on the hub pilot (as illustrated in the image to the left). Even the smallest gap will result in an uneven oval shape motion when the wheel rolls down the road. This uneven motion will lead to rolling resistance and increased fuel consumption, uneven tire wear and vibration. With Specialty Products’ wheel centering tools and sleeves, the wheel is installed to a true center, increasing fuel economy, decreasing tire wear and prolonging the life of wheel and suspension components.
